Book Proposal
My book will be focusing on the light that is emitted from the sky as well the environment or objects that are highlighted by the light. The two books from Printed Matter that I was most influenced by are "69" by Matthias Herrmann and "Chance Encounters in the Valley of Lights" by Rik Moran. What stood out to me the most in their images was the use of color and the dream-like feelings they create. Both books include images of sky which helps to develop various different fantasies. In "69" for example, images of planes in the sky with technicolor backdrops results in a cheery retro-nostalgia. In "Chance Encounters in the Valley of Lights," Moran uses mystical colors for landscapes such as red, purple, and orange as well illuminating certain parts of the environments to add to the mysterious anomalies left by the UFOs. In my book I hope to capture similar themes using images of skies, and environments lit by the sky with slightly saturated as well as darker colors. The narrative will be somewhat linear due to there being a common theme and images leading the viewer to the next page without many abrupt changes. However, these images will be shifting from one to another with each having their own slight twist and eventually smoothly leading the viewer to the ending.
